DEL MONTE® Swaps Fresh Cuts for Fresh Fades at Wimbledon

To celebrate its Fresh Cut fruit range, Del Monte swapped fresh fruit for fresh fades, treating queue-goers to free tennis-inspired trims after new research revealed the extraordinary lengths Brits would go to experience the Championships.
London, Monday 29 June 2026: Del Monte swapped fresh fruit for fresh fades in SW19, treating queueing tennis fans to complimentary trims inspired by some of the Championships’ most iconic hairstyles to celebrate its Fresh Cut fruit range.
Inspired by Britain’s enduring love affair with Wimbledon, the experience comes as new research commissioned by Del Monte reveals the extraordinary lengths fans would go to attend the Championships.
Nearly eight in ten Brits (78%) said they would queue for up to 12 hours for the chance to get in, while four in ten (40%) would happily accept a free haircut while waiting in the world famous queue. One in five (20%) admitted they’d even change their hairstyle to attend, while almost a fifth (18%) said they’d shave a tennis ball into their hair for the chance to watch play from Centre Court.
To bring the research to life, Del Monte transformed a Wimbledon barber shop into the home of ‘Fresh Cuts’ for the day, while celebrity hairstylist Tobias Bell, better known as That Hair Guy to his audience of more than one million social media followers, roamed the queue offering complimentary trims inspired by some of tennis’s most memorable looks. Fans also received samples of Del Monte Fresh Cut fruit before heading through the gates.
When it comes to the sport’s greatest hair icons, the research revealed Björn Borg’s trademark headband and flowing locks were voted tennis’s most iconic hairstyle. Meanwhile, Andre Agassi was named the player with the most memorable on-court hair, beating John McEnroe, Björn Borg and Pat Cash.
The survey of 2,000 Brits also found that tennis stars continue to influence the nation’s style, with almost a third (29%) admitting they’ve taken inspiration from a player’s look. Of those, 44% said they’d been inspired by a player’s hairstyle, while fashion (59%) and confidence (65%) were the biggest influences overall.

Celebrity hairstylist Tobias Bell (That Hair Guy) comments: “Tennis has produced some of the most recognisable hairstyles in sport, and it’s been brilliant bringing them back to life for fans joining the queue on opening day . Whether it was a nod to Björn Borg, John McEnroe or something a little more playful like a tennis ball design, everyone embraced the fun of it.”
“The queue is such a unique part of Wimbledon, so giving people a fresh look before they headed to enjoy the tennis was a fantastic way to kick off the tournament.”
Thierry Montange, spokesperson for Del Monte, adds: “Lawn tennis season is one of the highlights of British summer, bringing together thousands of fans every year to experience the magic of the grass tournaments. At Del Monte, freshness is at the heart of everything we do, so bringing ‘Fresh Cuts’ to tennis fans felt like the perfect way to put a playful twist on one of the country’s most iconic summer traditions.
“Freshness is at the heart of summer, and our research found that almost half of Brits (45%) associate fresh fruit with feeling fresh at this time of year, second only to freshly cut grass (46%), making this spot the perfect place to celebrate both. Whether people fancied a subtle trim, wanted to channel one of tennis’s legendary hairstyles or simply enjoyed some Del Monte Fresh Cut fruit before heading into the grounds, we wanted to help make their tennis fan experience even more memorable.”
